CBD+200 CANNABINOIDS, TERPENES & FLAVONOIDS
Introduction
CBD or Cannabidiol is a phyto-cannabinoid, one of 113 Phyto-cannabinoids, 100 Terpenes and 40 Flavonoids, found in the resin of the Cannabis hemp plant. Based on 1000s of anecdotal and an ever growing body of scientific evidence, Cannabis CBD+200 have given relief for people suffering from a variety of illness, discomfort and disease including inflammation, chronic pain, insomnia, anxiety, arthritis, depression, alcoholism, diabetes, PTSD, epilepsy, psychosis, seizure, spasms, MS, chronic pain, schizophrenia, antibiotic-resistant infections, and other neurological disorders. CBD+200 has demonstrated neuro-protective and neurogenic effects, and it's anti-cancer properties are currently being investigated at several research centers around the world. Further evidence suggests that CBD is safe with little side-effect even at high dose. (see www.projectcbd.org)
CBD is an acronym for Cannabidiol. The recent discovery of the medical benefit of CBD is nothing short of miraculous. Children with Dravites Syndrome, the horrible epileptic disease that puts normal children into a catatonic state, have been relived of the debilitating effects of the disease within hours of CBD ingestion (with no side effects) bringing tears of joy to their astonished parents.
Medical and scientific research have identified a myriad of diseases and illnesses that find relief through the use of CBD and in combination with other cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids.
Ongoing research is identifying the effects of some of the other cannabinoids; CBG (cannabigerol), CBN (cannabinol), CBC (cannabichomine); and some important terpenes such as myrcene, pinene and limonene.
Below is a complete list of illnesses taken from the site "Project CBD". More and more Doctors and Nurse Practitioners are learning about the many benefits and illnesses that cannabis compounds work to relieve.
How Does CBD Effect ECS?
CBD is one of over 200 chemical compounds, called Phyto-cannabinoids, that make up the resinous trichomes on flowers and leaves of Cannabis hemp. Cannabis trichomes are the sticky resin surrounding the white pistillate flowers and leaves of female plants. For some reason, which is not clearly understood by science, those 113 compounds (plus terpenes and flavonoids) mimic our own Endo-cannabinoid compounds (i.e. anandamide) of the endo-cannabinoid system, which is an important cell signaling or cell messaging system found in all mammals, we humans included.
The endo-cannabinoid system (ECS) in mammals is a bio-chemical messaging system uniting all the cells of your body to function according to the needs of your body. Cells receive messages in the form of endo-cannabinoids from the blood that bind to receptors and cause the cell to take some type of action, for example to decompose if another new cell is replacing it.
When the endo-cannabinoid system is working properly it is in "homeostasis", which means that there is a healthy balance or harmony where the ECS signals to the cells are all working properly. But when its not working properly, called "clinical endocannabinoid deficiency, or CECD", all sorts of problems, illness, ailments or disease can occur.
All cells in the body have cannabinoid receptors called CB1 or CB2 depending on what type of cell; the nervous system, immune system or organs. Normally, the CB1 and CB2 cell receptors receive chemical messages in the form of endo-cannabinoids carried in the blood. If for some reason your body is not producing enough endo-cannabinoids due to stress, other illness, genetic problems or old age, then cell disfunction will occur. The type of dysfunctional cell will dictate the type of illness.
Therefore, by using Cannabis Phyto-cannabinoids such as CBD, you are basically using phyto-cannabinoids to replace your own "deficient" endo-cannabinoids. This can have a dramatic effect to rebuilding the natural balance of homeostasis by activating the CB1 or CB2 cell receptors allowing the cell to function normally.
By using cannabis phyto-cannabinoids like CBD, CBN, CBC to replace the function our own deficient endo-cannabinoids there can be relief from many different forms of illness. The important thing to stress here is the word "relief". Phyto-cannabinoids from hemp, at least at present, do not completely replace the function of the endocannabinoid system. What most people report is that they got sufficient relief from their symptoms, such as anxiety, chronic pain, sleep deprivation, arthritic pain etc., to function normally and to get their life back on track.
How Did CBD Gain Such Fast Recognition?
CBD became international news when Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN Medical Correspondent did a documentary about Charlotte Figi, a 5 year old that had been suffering with Dravites Syndrome since age two. Charlotte had been near death twice and mostly catatonic after being a cheerful fully functioning toddler. Her mother, after hearing about another boy who had success using CBD, decided to give it a try and purchased a high CBD strain from a dispensary and rendered it to CBD Oil using Rick Simpsons method (yeah Canada). Her CBD preparation had an immediate effect and Charlotte's seizures were reduced from 50 per day to 3 per week. This miracle, so to speak, would have gone virtually unnoticed had it not been for CNN. Dr. Gupta's documentary which changed the minds of many many people formerly opposed to Medical Cannabis and Dr Gupta's documentary has become the turning point to finally end Cannabis prohibition.......thank you Dr. Gupta .......and thank you Charlotte.
Updated 2020: Since I wrote this post I have learned that Charlotte has passed away due to complications related to Covid 19. We can be thankful that she was able to live a reasonably normal life with her amazing parents and that all who suffer less due to the now wide use of cannabinoids can be thankful for her short yet courageous life.
How Does CBD Heal a Person?
CBD+200 medicinal cannabinoids are holistic, which means they are natural compounds that have little to no side effects. These phyto-cannabinoids from Cannabis mimic our own endo-cannabinoid compounds, which humans produce internally to perform a variety of functions within the cells of the bodies nervous system, immune system and organs.
Our bodies produce Endo-cannabinoids as needed, which are carried through the blood stream to arrive at each and every cell. Each cell has a receptor where the cannabinoids fit like keys to either turn on or to block the cell receptor site, either a CB1 or CB2 site.
This is the biological messaging system which regulates the activities for each cell. For example, (see the Healthline Article on the Cannabinoid System) "endocannabinoids might target CB1 receptors in a spinal nerve to relieve pain. Others might bind to a CB2 receptor in your immune cells to signal that your body’s experiencing inflammation, a common sign of autoimmune disorders".
Cannabinoid research is one of the newest fields of medical research. Beginning in the 1960's by Dr. Raphael Mechoulam in Israel, it was not until the 1990's that endocannabinoid system was discovered. While much research is presently underway, the endocannabinoid system is very complex and it will take time to understand just how it works to maintain homeostasis and health.
While future research will be able to identify certain types of cannabinoids for certain illness, presently finding the proper cannabinoid and the proper dosage for your illness is basically a matter of trial and error.
Because this type of medicine is targeting the root cause of illness, and not the symptom, and since everyone has a unique endo-cannabinoid system, what works for one person will be different for another. A person simply needs to find a trusted source and get as much advice as possible, then use trial and error to get the required results.
The rewards, according to many, can be life changing and it is worth every effort because many report their life returned once they found the cannabinoid that what worked for them.
